The Dawning of Unity Consciousness on Planet Earth

With the election of Barack Obama as the next president of the United States of America, we entered a new era on planet Earth. This election occurred very close to our planetary entry into the 6th Day of the Galactic Underworld in the Mayan Long Count Calendar, the annual 11:11 portal and a full moon during the sign of Scorpio.

I could expound for a long time on all of the correlations and symbologies between the election of Barack Obama and these significant cosmic triggers. What seems far more relevant, however, is what I see now developing in terms of unity awareness and consciousness in our budding new administration, our country, and the world.

Obama's recent appointment of Reverend Rick Warren to be the minister who says the invocation at his inaugural ceremony is a perfect example of how unity consciousness is now starting to manifest. It is also a classic example of how it will be misunderstood and thus resisted at first by many.

The President Elect's main thrust is to unite people for a common cause to the benefit of all the people of this country and the world. He is already demonstrating this intent quite well in his various appointments for his cabinet and the other key governmental positions his transition team needed to fill.

He is choosing people for their skills and qualifications in doing a specific job to be sure, but he is also choosing people from all walks of life, persuasions and points of view. Obama is choosing people that have demonstrated the ability to work across party lines and to reach out to others to get things done and who tend to either be centrist in their views or who are tolerant of opposing views and/or who hold various views on both sides of the line. In other words, their job qualifications now include human decency, fairness and a balanced personality.

Many of the points being raised by people who object to some of Rick Warren's views and positions are entirely valid within the context of their own argument. However, I believe the larger message is largely being missed. Barack Obama is not appointing people out of favoritism, as a payback for favors rendered, nor because he supports their views or because they support his. He knows well the importance of diplomacy and inclusiveness. Barack Obama is demonstrating to the world what inclusiveness is really going to look like in politics and in life in general.

I would venture to bet that these same people that object to the appointment of Rick Warren for the inaugural invocation would likely agree that our government has been seriously bogged down and not able to get much done due to bi-partisan fighting, bickering and divisiveness between people of different points of view.

This dynamic has crippled our country's government and made it highly ineffective except in times of dire emergency where people are able to better rise above this pettiness to solve serious problems, and even then it often interferes.

Yet they do not seem to recognize that Barack Obama is directly addressing this problem through appointments like Rick Warren. If he is going to be effective at unifying this country to solve its problems he MUST be open to bringing people from all points of view together and allowing them to be part of the larger process thus developing mutual respect and melting the icy divide so good things can actually be accomplished once again.

We are seeing, for the first time I can remember, a political figure in a very prominent position on the world stage who is not just talking about uniting people as a clever political ploy, he is walking the talk and he is not accountable to anyone but the people who elected him. We have for all intents and purposes just witnessed the taking back of our country from the corporate power structure on this planet and it brings tears of joy to my eyes every time I think of this. It was a legal and bloodless revolution that will benefit everyone and which is fueled by a powerful grass roots movement of the common people of this country.

This represents a significant shift in the planetary consciousness. The entire basis of this shift is unification and that is purely and simply the manifestation of unity consciousness on Earth coming to pass before our very eyes. I must admit, I had lost hope at times that I would ever see this come to pass in my lifetime. However with the advent of Barack's successful campaign and election the balance of power on this planet has significantly shifted in the direction of unity consciousness and the fairness and compassion that is inherent within that field of awareness.

As I watch Barack address the concerns people have raised over this appointment of Rick Warren I sense he is way beyond his words in awareness. He knows well that he must reach out and make people feel comfortable with his way of doing things. Yet, he stood there strong and did not waiver in the face of the heat being applied to him. He stood his ground and defended his position.

He fell short of saying, "hey people, you are being shortsighted and are locked into your personal concerns, issues and objectives and you do not yet see the larger picture that is to unfold here. Trust me, I know the way and you will soon see it demonstrated." However, he did point out his reasons for the decision he made regarding Rick Warren, all of which pointed strongly in this direction of unification and mutual respect for all people.

Many of us are currently going through difficult times. The world is watching my country struggle to right itself from the errors we have made in the past. It is amazing to me that we are witnessing an administration such as Barack Obama's being juxtapositioned against the outgoing Bush administration. There could not be a more stark contrast. The shift of consciousness this represents is monumental. In so many ways the Bush administration embodied all the major aspects of mass consciousness that badly needed to shift and made that need visible for nearly everyone to see so the shift could indeed happen.

We should all be grateful to President Bush's administration for demonstrating to us so dramatically the policies that are now no longer acceptable to this country in terms of how we conduct ourselves on the world stage and domestically.

As we move into this field of awareness to express our gratitude, we too are then supporting unity consciousness on Earth by recognizing that all things serve a Divine Purpose even when they are difficult to endure. The Great Love does not exclude anything from its fold, neither should we.
